What's Present Now | Simple Practice | Updates + Offerings

Greetings dear Reader!

Another month is here and it feels like time is literally flying. How are you?

As we continue hurtling through rapid-fire change in our world, I’ve been thinking more and more about grounding. Both the psychological practices and physical “earthing” have real benefits for brining us back into the present and helping to keep us balanced.

Now, some folks bristle at the concept of grounding.😖 One of my coaching clients shared that the thought of grounding made her feel as though she would be staying stuck, stagnant and unable to move forward. Not exactly an exciting concept for an innovative entrepreneur on a big mission!

Here’s the thing though: being grounded does nothing to prevent our movement forward. In fact, it can actually support it. How? Read on.

In the midst of constant change, distraction and disruption we can easily fall off course or become destabilized. In our society chronic nervous system activation is way more normalized than we often realize. What grounding does is give us a way back to neutral.

Psychological grounding practices help us calm stress and overwhelm. Think meditation and mindfulness techniques.

Physical earthing is tapping into the natural negative electric charge of the planet. This introduces antioxidants that have an anti-inflammatory effect on the body. They neutralize free radicals and support immunity. Earthing has been shown to improve sleep, decrease pain and even affect wound healing.

A few ways I’ve been grounding lately:

  • An ancient Land Introduction practice on my recent travels (Learn more here)
  • Removing my shoes outdoors on bare earth
  • Planting my feet intentionally and fully contacting the floor while working

If you’re planning on travelling this summer, consider ways you can ground yourself as you move from home into new spaces. If July brings unexpected changes or unpleasant encounters, remember grounding as a ways to calm and re-centre yourself. Check out the Simple Practice below for ideas ⤵️

I'm get ready to host some virtual retreat sessions this summer, so I’m deepening my own practices of grounding to help me stay centred, connected to spirit and trusting myself. The noise of the world is constant and grounding is one thing that’s helped me to quiet that noise and connect inwards.

This I Know: Grounding is a practice that can help us, de-stress, re-balance and find stability. It’s from our clear, balanced state of being that we can make meaningful moves forward. Far from leaving us stuck, grounding helps us recalibrate, access strength and mental clarity that makes our actions more mindful, more impactful and less reactive.

I hope this month brings you many moments of summer fun! May you enjoy the sunshine and experience the incredible, supportive power of the earth beneath your feet.✨ If you'd like to connect just reach out!

Shanti 🙏🏽 Peace

Simple Practice

Grounding

Summer weather makes it easy to practice grounding. Being outdoors is ideal if possible. If not, be sure to contact untreated natural surfaces. Avoid sealed wood, rubber, carpeting or vinyl.

Here are a few ways you can do it:

👣 Bare feet on soil, sand, grass, natural stone or natural bodies of water (lake, river, ocean)

🌳 Hug a tree or touch live plants

🪴 Gardening. Potting up plants or seedlings with your bare hands in soil

🧘🏽‍♀️ Sitting on the ground, notice your breath. Notice 5 things you see, 4 things you hear, 3 things you feel, 2 things you smell and 1 thing you can taste
